The hunt The steeds of the hunt for their riders wait As they approach with silent gait The riders number women four Their horses at the ground they paw With impatient snorts as their saddles they take To be on with the hunt before the days break With effortless leap the riders mount Away they ride before moments can count Out of the forest in effortless canter Down toward the nighttime village banter The horses heat through flesh they feel Their weapons cold from the steel From under the moonlit night they ride Now that the daylight has gone to hide Four horses with steaming breath One coloured and one as pale as death One of them black and the last a bay Across darkened fields they make their way With forceful gallop through the village they go With blood chilling shrieks through the night they flow The people of the village flee Away from the hunters laughter of glee Once every summer their need is just To satisfy the curse of blood lust With chains of steel they ensnare their prey With whips of leather his flesh they flay The bard is their chosen game Forever branded by their flame For their amusement he will play Until his life ebbs and dies away For a year they keep their chosen man For them to use when ever they can With lust and love they keep him alive They need his blood for them to thrive With blades of steel his flesh they cut With tongues of flame the wounds heal shut Until at last his strength gives out And with his last breath they pout For then it is time once more Out of the forest they pour Once again they must hunt It is their hunger they need to blunt inspired by the blade babes
