Before I rush out and buy a workshop manual, does anyone know if the zzr600d CIRCA 1990, came with a fuel pump? I know the later models did, I bought a project with starting prob, no fuel getting to the spark. Its had a bit of a bodge and I want to check every possibility before stripping carbs.

If its been standing a while try this ... if you carfully stick your finger down between the front right part of the seat and the tank a bit you'll discover there is a small round button ... this is a kinda priming button ... try pressing this in to prime the carbs ... If i think of anything else ill come back and add to this thread ok

oh and the symptom you describe could well be down to it being stored with fuel in the carbs.... it causes an orange kind of varnish in the float bowls and also blocks up the jets and emulsion tubes, get a can of carb cleaner and give that a go.

Thanks peeps for your advice, looks like a carb strip is in order. I wondered what the little button was for, far easier to stick a fuel tap on, iam sure kawasaki had a good reason.
